Organization

Set an L-shaped pattern with a server, central redirect player and target positioned at a right angle. The server plays firmly into the central player, who adjusts body shape before contact and redirects first time into the target lane. Rotate both directions.

Coaching Points

Arrive side-on before the ball reaches you | Let the pace of the pass help the redirect | Contact through the centre of the ball | Play into the next player's path | Adjust feet early rather than swinging late

Progressions

  • Add a passive defender closing the central player from the original passing line.

Regressions

  • Allow the redirect player one controlling touch before the angled pass.
