Compact Defending — Block the Middle
A directional defensive game where the defending team stays compact, protects the central corridor and encourages play toward less dangerous wide areas.

Organization
Use a 40x32m area split into a central corridor and two wide channels. Play 6v6 or 7v7. The attacking team scores by penetrating centrally or reaching an end target; defenders score after regain and counter.

Protect the centre first; Distances between players and lines; Shift together with the ball; Press only with cover; Force predictable wide passes
Progressions
- Allow attackers to overload one wide channel to test defensive shifting.
Regressions
- Reduce attacking freedom by limiting touches.
