Mobility Triangle with Ball — Open Hip, Reach and Play

Three players move around a triangle, opening the hips to receive at each cone, reaching through the pass, and following to the next position. The exercise develops hip mobility for receiving while building passing technique and the habit of moving after playing.

Organization

Set up 3 cones in a triangle (6m apart) in a 10×10m area. 3 players, one at each cone. Player A passes to Player B and jogs to B's cone. B opens the hips, receives with the far foot, reaches with the pass to C, and jogs to C's cone. C receives, passes to A (who has arrived at B's old cone), and jogs there. Continue rotating around the triangle. 90s per direction, rest 30s, 3 sets.

Coaching Points

1. Open the hips when receiving — point the knee and foot in the pass direction. 2. Reach with the pass — extend the leg through the ball, don't shorten the follow-through. 3. Receive with the far foot — it naturally opens the body. 4. Jog to the next cone after passing — keep moving, don't stand. 5. Pass on the ground, inside of the foot, firm and accurate. 6. The movement around the triangle builds hip mobility and passing rhythm.

Progressions

  • Increase to a sprint between cones — faster movement.
  • Limit to one-touch passing — no time to settle.

Regressions

  • Walk between cones — focus on the hip opening, not the speed.
  • Use two touches — receive, then pass.
