Organization

Use a 16x14m area with a central target attacker, server, support runner and two defenders. The server plays into the target. Defender 1 applies controlled pressure from behind while Defender 2 screens the runner's return lane.

Coaching Points

First defender arrives tight enough to discourage the turn | Do not foul through the receiver | Second defender sees ball and runner | Screen the bounce lane before chasing the set | Exchange roles if the receiver escapes sideways

Progressions

  • Allow the target player to turn and attack a mini-goal if pressure is poor.

Regressions

  • Use a passive target and rehearse defender distances.
