The striker checks toward the ball to pull the defender forward, then spins into the space behind for a through pass and finish. The practice links movement deception with the timing of the final pass.

Organization

Use one full-size goal with goalkeeper. A passer starts 25–30m from goal, striker begins between two cones with an active or passive defender. The striker checks short, spins behind and receives a through ball to finish. Rotate passer, striker and defender roles.

Coaching Points

Make the short movement believable | Change speed sharply after the defender steps | Stay onside before the spin | Pass into the striker's running line | Finish early if the goalkeeper advances

Progressions

  • Make the defender fully live and allow the striker to choose short receive or spin behind.

Regressions

  • Use a mannequin and pre-set the spin direction.
