5v5 Single-Occupancy Centre — Only One Teammate in the Hub

A possession exercise with a marked central square that can be used by only one possession player at a time. The rule creates cleaner timing of central occupation and automatic rotation after the ball leaves.

Improve spacing around a central hub by allowing only one player from the team in possession to occupy it at a time.

Organization

Mark a 6x6m central hub inside a 30x24m pitch and play 5v5. Only one player from the possession team may enter the hub. After receiving or carrying through it, that player must leave before a teammate can enter.

Coaching Points

Do not occupy the hub too early | Enter as the passing lane opens | Leave immediately after using the centre | Outside players maintain width and depth | Next player reads the exit and replaces at the right moment

Progressions

  • Limit the hub player to one touch and allow defenders unrestricted entry.

Regressions

  • Protect the hub player from pressure for one touch.
