Organization

Set up a 25x20m rectangle with cones at each corner. Seven possession players position themselves around and inside the area — typically five on the perimeter and two central — against three defenders inside. The possession team circulates the ball under heavy numerical superiority, aiming for quick one- and two-touch passing. Defenders press to regain; if they win the ball or force an error, they swap with the attacking player who lost possession. Run parallel groups for larger squads so every player stays active.

Coaching Points

Play one- and two-touch to keep circulation speed high — slow passes let defenders recover into passing lanes. Provide support on at least two sides of the ball carrier at all times — a single option is a dead end. Scan before receiving so the next pass is already decided — eyes on the ball alone kills tempo. Central players should constantly reposition to offer passing angles between the defenders. React instantly after a turnover — the player who lost the ball presses immediately while others recover shape.
