A direct central 1v1 to goal that links the take-on with a realistic finish. The attacker receives facing a defender and must use timing, disguise and acceleration to create enough separation for a shot.

Organization

Use a 22x18m central channel leading to a full-size goal with goalkeeper. Attacker receives from a server 18–22m from goal. Defender starts 2m behind a central line and can engage as soon as the attacker’s first touch is taken.

Coaching Points

First touch invites or attacks the defender depending on space | Commit before shifting the ball | Protect the shooting lane after the move | Finish before the defender can recover | Use both sides of the defender

Progressions

  • Add a recovering second defender who enters after the attacker’s first touch.

Regressions

  • Start the defender farther away and allow the attacker an uncontested first touch.
