Double-Save Reaction — First Shooter Forces Parry, Second Runner Finishes

A rebound finishing exercise with two distinct attackers. The first player shoots to force a save while the second attacks the likely parry zones and must finish quickly if the ball stays live.

React to a goalkeeper parry by attacking the second ball with a second runner rather than watching the first shot.

Organization

Use a full-size goal with goalkeeper. Shooter 1 receives centrally 16–20m out. Runner 2 begins outside the box and may enter only as the first shot is struck. Any save into play remains live for the second finish.

Coaching Points

Second runner moves on the strike, not after the save | Attack likely parry zones from an angle | First shooter follows the shot without blocking the runner | Finish rebounds quickly | Goalkeeper works realistically and can hold clean shots

Progressions

  • Add a recovering defender who can block the rebound finish.

Regressions

  • Coach serves a predictable rebound after the first shot.
