Organization

Use a full-size goal with goalkeeper and a byline server. The finisher starts near the edge or penalty-spot area. The cutback arrives slightly across the body; the first touch moves the ball into the weaker-foot striking lane before the shot.

Coaching Points

Open body before the cutback arrives | First touch should create the weak-foot lane | Keep preparation touch close enough to shoot quickly | Strike through the centre or inside of the ball | Do not take extra touches to move back onto the dominant foot

Progressions

  • Add a recovering defender closing from the side of the dominant foot.

Regressions

  • Serve without pressure and allow a stationary start.
