Organization

Mark three horizontal bands. Start with a 6 in the lower midfield band, an 8 higher and a 10 between lines. As the ball enters the 6, the 8 drops alongside while the 10 moves into the 8's previous pocket. Circulate through the new structure against a midfield press.

Coaching Points

The 8 drops only when the 6 needs support | 10 moves as the 8 leaves, not before | Keep diagonal rather than flat distances | One midfielder should always threaten beyond pressure | Reset the vertical spacing after progression

Progressions

  • Allow defenders to track the rotation and require the midfielders to decide whether to complete or cancel it.

Regressions

  • Use fixed zones and passive defenders.
