Organization

Use the central and one wide third of a 40x35m area toward a full-size goal with goalkeeper. Work with a 9, 10, winger and two supporting midfielders against a back four. Start from midfield circulation and trigger the rotation when the 9 has first pinned the central defender.

Coaching Points

9 pins before dropping | 10 moves across the defender rather than straight forward | Winger attacks the gap on the blind side | Pass should follow the movement that moves the defender most | Keep one player underneath for the next action

Progressions

  • Allow the defensive midfielder to track the 10 and create a second decision for the passer.

Regressions

  • Use two centre-backs only and rehearse the timing without midfield pressure.
