10-to-9 Bounce, Winger Runs Beyond — Third-Man Entry Through Inside Channel

A central-to-wide attacking combination where the 10 plays into the 9, the 9 sets first time, and the winger leaves the touchline to run beyond through the inside channel.

Use the 9 as a bounce player so the winger can become the third runner through the inside channel beyond the midfield line.

Organization

Use a 36x32m final-third area with a full-size goal and goalkeeper. The 10 receives centrally, 9 starts between centre-backs, winger begins wide and fullback supports outside. The 10 finds 9, 9 bounces toward the 10/8 line, and the winger times a diagonal inside run beyond.

Coaching Points

Winger stays wide until the pass enters the 9 | 9 protects and sets with minimal touches | Third-man run begins as the set is played | Fullback preserves width outside the winger's run | Final pass should lead the winger toward goal

Progressions

  • Allow the fullback defender to track the winger inside.

Regressions

  • Use passive central defenders and rehearse the timing without live tracking.
