Organization

Use a central channel toward a full-size goal. The striker starts level with a passive or live centre-back. A midfielder holds the ball 15–20m away. The striker checks toward one shoulder, feels the defender's position and spins behind the opposite shoulder for the pass.

Coaching Points

Start close enough to influence the defender | Use the first movement to fix the defender's feet | Spin as the passer looks up | Run across the defender's blind side | Finish before the defender can recover

Progressions

  • Make the centre-back fully live and add an offside line.

Regressions

  • Use a passive defender and predetermine the spin direction.
