Spin-Out Wall Pass — Set One Way, Escape the Other

A quick combination drill where the receiver sets the ball toward one support player, then spins away from pressure into a different lane to receive the return pass.

Use a short wall pass to draw pressure before spinning away into the opposite receiving lane.

Organization

Create a 14x12m area with a central receiver, wall player and two exit gates. The server plays into the receiver, who sets to the wall player and immediately spins around the opposite shoulder into a free gate for the return pass.

Coaching Points

Set the ball with one or two touches | Spin as the set is travelling | Escape away from the pressure side | Wall player releases into the runner's path | Receiver accelerates through the gate before checking the next action

Progressions

  • Add a live rear defender who follows the spin.

Regressions

  • Remove pressure and predetermine the spin direction.
