4v4+3 Staggered Neutrals — Low, Middle and High Support

A directional possession game with three neutrals assigned to different horizontal bands. The team with the ball can use all three but must preserve their staggered heights.

Maintain three neutral support heights so possession always has a low reset, middle connector and high progression option.

Organization

Use a 32x22m three-band area. Play 4v4 with Neutral 1 restricted to the low band, Neutral 2 to the middle band and Neutral 3 to the high band. Score by progressing low-to-high or high-to-low without losing possession.

Coaching Points

Neutrals occupy different heights at all times | Middle neutral links rather than chasing the ball | Low neutral provides a secure reset | High neutral stays beyond pressure until the lane opens | Possession players rotate around, not into, neutral positions

Progressions

  • Make the middle neutral one touch and require use of all three neutrals for a bonus point.

Regressions

  • Allow neutrals to move between adjacent bands.
