5v5 Possession Reset — Five Passes, Then Reconnect Through the 6

A possession game with one neutral number 6 in the centre. After five consecutive team passes, the next scoring action must reconnect through the 6 before the team can continue toward a target gate.

Develop the habit of reconnecting through a central supporting player after a longer circulation sequence.

Organization

Play 5v5 + 1 neutral 6 in a 30x24m area with two target gates. Teams keep possession normally. After completing five passes, they unlock the scoring phase by finding the central 6, who must connect the next action before a gate can be attacked.

Coaching Points

Do not hide the 6 behind pressure | Circulate to create the central lane | 6 scans before the fifth pass arrives | Support beyond the 6 for the next action | Reset the count after turnover or score

Progressions

  • Limit the neutral 6 to one touch and reduce the area.

Regressions

  • Unlock the 6 after three passes and protect the central player from direct pressure.
