Organization

Use a 35x30m area with a back four and several attackers. A server or midfielder receives at different moments with either active pressure or no pressure. When the ball carrier is unopposed, attackers can run behind and the back line must retreat collectively.

Coaching Points

Read pressure on the ball before reading the runner | Drop together, not individually | Stay connected while retreating | Protect central depth first | Step again only when pressure is restored

Progressions

  • Make the attacking midfielder fully live and allow disguised passes over or through the line.

Regressions

  • Use coach calls to identify the pressured and unpressured moments.
