Back-Three Plus 6 — Wingers Drop Only After First Line Break

A positional build-up game that prevents wide players from dropping too early and shrinking the pitch. The wingers remain high while a back three and 6 solve the first press, then can drop to receive once progression is achieved.

Keep wingers high during early build-up and delay their drop until the first pressing line has been broken.

Coaching Points

Wingers hold height until the first line is broken | Back three create width and central access | 6 moves to connect both sides | First receiver beyond the press can release a winger early | Do not bring all support toward the ball

Progressions

  • Add a wide defender who can jump onto the winger after the first line break.

Regressions
