Organization

Place a target forward near the top of the box, a passer underneath and a runner starting deeper. Pass into the forward's feet. The forward protects the ball and backheels into the runner's path for a first-time or two-touch finish.

Coaching Points

Forward checks the runner before receiving | Backheel should travel into space, not directly backward | Runner times the arrival late | Keep the defender screened legally with body position | Finish before the block can recover

Progressions

  • Add an active centre-back tight to the forward and a recovering midfielder chasing the runner.

Regressions

  • Use passive pressure on the forward and allow the runner an extra touch.
