Organization

Set a passer 10m from a target player with a support player at a diagonal angle. A defender begins touch-tight behind the target. The passer plays into feet; the target uses body position to protect and sets to support. The target then moves away to create the next option.

Coaching Points

Feel the defender before the ball arrives | Receive on the safe side | Use body position rather than arms to protect | Set the ball at a playable angle | Move immediately after the set

Progressions

  • Allow the defender to step around and intercept if the target's body position is poor.

Regressions

  • Use passive rear pressure and allow the target two touches before setting.
