Build-Up Loss Emergency 3v3 — CBs Delay, 6 Recovers Central

A negative-transition exercise starting from controlled build-up. A forced central turnover creates an instant 3v3 attack toward goal, with the 6 recovering from ahead of the ball to restore central protection.

Defend an immediate 3v3 after losing the ball in build-up by delaying with centre-backs while the 6 recovers through the central lane.

Organization

Use a 40x34m build-up area toward a full-size goal with goalkeeper. Three build-up players plus a 6 circulate against pressers. On a coach-triggered or live regain, three attackers counter immediately against the two nearest CBs plus one recovering defender, while the 6 sprints centrally to help.

Coaching Points

Centre-backs delay and protect central route first | 6 recovery run is straight toward goal-side centre | Do not dive in after the turnover | Nearest defender slows the ball carrier, partner protects depth | Recovering 6 communicates when the block can step again

Progressions

  • Allow a fourth attacker to join after four seconds if the defence has not recovered.

Regressions

  • Start the 6 closer to the recovery line and narrow the counter channel.
