Goalkeeper Save to Central Bounce — GK Finds 6, Wide Runner Breaks

A goalkeeper-led attacking transition where the first distribution does not go directly wide. The keeper finds the 6 centrally, who bounces the ball into the path of a wide runner accelerating beyond pressure.

Organization

Use a full-size goal and a 45x35m area with two mini-goals near halfway. Begin with a shot or cross for the goalkeeper to claim. The goalkeeper distributes to the 6, who sets first or second touch to a wide runner. Two defenders recover to protect the mini-goals.

Coaching Points

Goalkeeper scans before securing the ball | 6 creates a clear central angle | Bounce pass leads the wide runner forward | Wide runner starts moving as the goalkeeper releases | If the central lane is blocked, goalkeeper secures rather than forcing the pattern

Progressions

  • Add a pressing forward who can close the 6 after the goalkeeper's distribution.

Regressions

  • Use passive recovery defenders and allow the 6 two touches.
