Organization

Use two centre-backs, a pivot, two midfielders and wide targets against four or five pressers. If the nearest presser does not engage, the centre-back carries into midfield before releasing.

Coaching Points

Carry only when space is genuinely open | Teammates clear the lane | Commit a midfielder before passing | Rest defence stays connected behind the carry | Release before pressure closes

Progressions

  • Allow defenders to counter immediately if the carry loses possession.

Regressions

  • Create a protected central lane for the first few repetitions.
