Organization

Use a wide channel with a ball carrier inside. The winger makes the first run behind the fullback as a decoy. As the defender drops, the supporting fullback or midfielder makes a second run into the space outside or inside the defender for the pass.

Coaching Points

First run must threaten the space behind | Second runner waits for the defender to react | Avoid both runners using the same lane | Ball carrier keeps both options visible | Accelerate immediately after the passing lane opens

Progressions

  • Add a covering centre-back who can pass the runners on and protect the inside channel.

Regressions

  • Use a passive fullback and rehearse the two-run timing pattern.
