Organization

Set a central lane with an attacking passer, target player and defending 6. Two counter runners wait in wider or higher positions. After the 6 intercepts, the first pass goes into a support player who sets for a third runner to attack a mini-goal.

Coaching Points

6 steps forward to intercept, not backward | First action after regain should secure the ball | Support player arrives underneath | Third runner starts as the interception happens | Counter into the space the opponent just vacated

Progressions

  • Make the original attackers live counterpressers after the interception.

Regressions

  • Use a predictable passing lane for the interception and passive pressure after regain.
