Organization

Use a 20x15m channel. A clips the ball into B, who starts on the highest line with passive pressure behind. C begins deeper and advances as the ball travels. B cushions with chest, thigh or foot backward into C's path; C then plays forward to a target.

Coaching Points

B gets under the flight early | Cushion backward into space, not vertically down | C moves while the ball is travelling | Use the safest receiving surface for the service | C should be able to play forward without stopping

Progressions

  • Make the defender behind B active and limit C to one touch.

Regressions

  • Use underarm service and allow B an extra settling touch.
