A central attacking pattern where the striker checks short to attract a centre-back while the 10 attacks the space behind the defensive line.

Organization

Use a central channel toward goal or two mini-goals. A midfielder carries or receives facing forward. The striker drops toward the ball, dragging a defender. The 10 starts deeper and accelerates beyond into the vacated lane for the through pass.

Striker's drop must threaten to receive | 10 waits until the defender reacts | Pass is released as the lane opens | Runs should cross different vertical heights | Striker supports the next action after the decoy

Progressions

  • Make the centre-backs fully live and allow the striker to turn if the defender does not follow.

Regressions

  • Use passive defenders and predetermine the through-pass timing.
